Studies have indicated that the fastest growing segment of the country's population is the group that falls into the 70 and over age bracket. While this obviously means that people are living longer, it also means that there may be a rise in individuals that need to receive home care. Approximately 12 million individuals are receiving some form of home care for various reasons ranging from long-term conditions to terminal illnesses. After all, the service does more than just provide seniors with a dignified form of assisted care. It also provides the families of the golden age loved one in question with the kind of peace of mind that can only really come from knowing that their loved one will be safe.
Seeking Out St. Louis
Even though St. Louis technically is closer to the Atlantic Ocean than the Pacific Ocean, it has long been considered to be the Gateway to the West. All geographic quirks aside, this city of about 319,000 residents remains a vital part of the national landscape because it seamlessly blends a strong modern economic landscape with a downhome attitude that is consistent to what one may hope to find in other parts of the Midwest.
The city's economic fortitude was once established by its presence along the Mississippi River, as the legendary waterway enabled it to develop into a vital hub for business in the Midwest. Today, it is propelled by a diverse landscape of business, as it has set itself to be a key player in industries like aerospace, medicine, and alcoholic beverages. That's not to say that the mighty Mississippi isn't still a prime mover in St. Louis' personality. The city's downtown overlooks its waterfront and into the eastern banks of the river, which is located in the neighboring state of Illinois. Residents and tourists alike can also get a birds-eye view of the majestic river by taking a trip to the city's famous Gateway Arch and ascending to its top via a transportation bucket. The iconic piece of architecture is located on the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, a museum that is devoted to showcasing the country's Western growth and the exploration exploits of Lewis and Clark.
Additionally, St. Louis shows a strong adherence to nature through its park system; a sprawling network of more than 100 official parks. The most famous of these is Forest Park, a 1,400-acre venue that is nearly twice as large as Central Park. This particular park is home to some of the city's major cultural and recreational institutions, such as the St. Louis Zoo, the St. Louis Science Center, and the St. Louis Art Museum.
St. Louis is also largely considered to be the best baseball city in the country, as the city is home to Major League Baseball's St. Louis Cardinals and scores of loyal, immensely knowledgeable fans. The presence of the Cardinals is augmented by the city's other two professional sports franchises: the St. Louis Blues (NHL), and the St. Louis Rams (NFL).
St. Louis Home Care at a Glance
Home care, which is occasionally known as home health care or in-home care, is basically defined as care that is given to a senior by a professional caregiver within the golden ager's own home. There are essentially two parts to the role of the caregiver. The first part is to administer aid and assistance to senior for various activities of daily living. These vital activities include getting dressed, taking a bath, or eating. The second part is to provide aid in carrying out several tasks that aren't physical in nature per se, but are needed for day to day living. Some of these functions include housecleaning, picking up groceries, cooking meals, and preparing medication. These two components ultimately combine to provide golden agers with a means to retain a certain measure of independent living; one that may not be as readily achieved in a senior living community.
