Light of Hearts Villa’s Independent, Assisted Living and Memory Care Community that has quite a history. It was once an all girls’ high school known as Lumen Cordium, Latin for (God as) “light of hearts”. In the late 1980’s the Vincentian Sisters, now the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, realized a need for senior housing in the area and decided to transform and retrofit Lumen Cordium to an assisted living campus that would meet the needs for the booming older population in Northeast Ohio. The original architects renovated the building to house 90 apartments, a beautiful dining room, a breathtaking chapel and a large activity center.

The property encompasses a variety of gardens, a private courtyard, a beauty and barbershop, transportation, state of the art computer lab, daily movies, and the list goes on. Also, there is a commitment to serving this senior population with grace and integrity, through quality, economical services. We embrace the “aging in place philosophy” – where residents can transition onto the Medicaid Waiver program without having to move off premises. Light of Hearts Villa is the first in the state of Ohio to offer the AeroScout® Wi-Fi Emergency Call Solution. This enables residents to call for assistance not only from any location within community, but also the grounds that surround Light of Hearts Villa. Light of Hearts Villa is dedicated to staffing qualified full time Registered Nurses (24/7), Personal Care Attendants, Residential Life Associates, Chef, Licensed Social Worker, along with committed housekeepers, maintenance, dietary and activity staff.

Light of Hearts Villa is a not-for-profit State Licensed Facility providing residential care options for older adults since 1989. Light of Hearts Villa is co-sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati and the Sisters of Charity Health System.
