As my mother began to age

We felt the tenderness of life’s final stage.

Please not a nursing home she would plead

Alas deep in our hearts we both saw the need.

Oh how we pondered which home would be the best,

Which place would stand out above the rest?

We came to a small town kind of out of the way

But the sense of warmth and caring enticed her to stay.

Her features have wrinkled, her hair has turned gray

But her dignity, her pride, her smile still stay.
