The Birches is the best (and safest) state-of-the-art six-bed facility in our area, according to such authorities as the head of Emergency Medicine at Redwood City's Kaiser Hospital, State Licensing's Technical Assistance Analyst, and the Palo Alto Fire Department. We are owner-occupied, and offer high-quality assisted living in a comfortable, stimulating, intimate setting, with much time and attention devoted to each individual's needs. We have operated our home since 1998 and have never received a citation. We are fully insured, have dementia care and hospice waivers, and a locked primeter. As basic services to all residents The Birches offers: 24-hour care, assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and eating; fresh, healthy cousine; exceptional support of therapeutic and rehabilitative goals; housekeeping, linen and personal laundry service, incontinence care, transferring/ambulation assistance, discreet observation and supervision, medications management, bedside care for temporary illness, accompaniment to medical visits by knowledgeable staff; emergency room advocacy; a community-enriched program of outings and activities; and staff focus on new residents' comfort during the initial adjustment period. In addition to long-term care provided for clients over age 60, we provide short-term respite care for motivated senior clients with high potential for rehabilitation.
